6 Ways New Vapers Can Stay Smoke-Free

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of vaping and all things vape related. For many smokers, this hype can be a deterrent when compared to their instinctual habit of lighting up a smoke. It’s a habit that’s second nature and requires zero thought, especially for smokers who’ve been at it 10+ years.

When I started vaping in early 2013 (with 15 years of a pack a day under my belt) it took more than one attempt before I found my rhythm, and more importantly, my device and e-liquid of preference. The first few months were essentially a series of awkward stares and ball-breaking from my smoker friends, combined with sprinkles of familiar social pressure, especially if I had a few drinks in me.

I was a smokers smoker, and the thought of losing that sacred, ritualistic hand-to-mouth dance was absolutely terrifying… Truth be told, making the switch from smoking to vaping is a big decision, and as with every big decision, preparation is paramount to your success. In this case, it’s the decision to switch from one deadly habit to an alternative that’s considerably less harmful and costly; both physically and financially.

To help you get a running start, here are my 6 surefire ways to stay smoke-free as a new vaper in 2015 and beyond. These tips are pretty self explanatory, meaning you can do it too! Follow these 6 guidelines and stick to your guns. Before you know it, you’ll be on your way to a better, smoke-free version of yourself.

new Vapers are well advised to drink a lot of water. Aside from the dehydrating nature of the juice, drinking more water than usual may help flush some of the toxins from smoking. Dehydration can make a person feel woosy, get headaches and muscle cramps. Nobody needs that on top of any other discomforts in the first days of not smoking.

I think new Vapers can have real confusion and frustration not knowing whether issues they may experience is a result of vaping or of leaving cigarettes behind.

Two things that would be really useful for educating new Vapers – a vaping terminology dictionary – it can be overwhelming trying to understand all the unfamiliar terms – and a real rundown on what the term Vaper’s tongue really means. When vaper’s tongue hit me I was so upset because I didn’t know what it was. I found there were two versions of it and I was hit with both at different times – the type where the Vape doesn’t taste like anything, where that same juice tasted so great last time I puffed it?? And the type where that tasty juice suddenly tastes just terrible and yet tastes wonderful again the next day.
    Just my two cents…

Terminology is most definitely something that can be a challenge for new and experienced vapers alike. Definitely agree on keeping hydrated, especially in those first few days! Thanks for the tips!
